Eight Ways to Experience Life Change with Others

Posted by Matt McAlvey on

At a recent Core Team Gathering, Jonathan Holmes, helped us to be better thinking about life change. By life change we mean that through God's Spirit and our grace-empowered effort, we can make progress in turning away from the brokenness of sin and be transformed into people who love God and love one another. In other words, by God's grace, you can be made new into a new person and experience the lifelong journey of beautiful change.

Here are eight ways that we help each other change:

1. Covenant & Commitment – I’m going to participate in this process with other people.

2. Time & Talk – Learning to be a better conversationalist. We’ve reduced relationships to information instead of experiences.

3. Meals & Mingling – Meals in the Bible are always significant events. I’m attaching myself to you and showing you honor.

4. Intentionality & Pursue – You have to take the initiative, by default, everybody wants to be the receivers of others attention.

5. Sacrifice & Service – This is Jesus’s model. Give of your time, energy and resources.

6. Prayer & Petition – You should be praying for other people and with other people to change.

7. Asking & Inviting – Ask good questions and wisely wait for answers. Instead of what are you doing asking how are you doing.

8. Confrontation & Caring – If you really love someone, you’ll wound them. Faithful are the wounds of a friend.
