Everything You Need to Know
As the landscape of the coronavirus outbreak changes, often daily, we are doing our best to make wise and informed decisions about how to conduct ministry at Parkside Church Westside. Much like the gradual reopening of society, we anticipate that our return to “normal” will take time. In light of the current situation, we have decided to resume our Sunday gatherings again, in limited numbers.
At this time, we invite you to worship with us at Parkside Church Westside in one of two ways...
- In-person by RSVP for an upcoming Sunday service
- Online via our weekly live stream
In-Person Sunday Services
What to Expect
Sunday services will look and feel different. We are following basic social distancing guidelines, which means our capacity is limited. In order to safely accommodate the maximum number of guests, we are holding two services, at 9:00 and 10:30 am. An RSVP is required for regular attenders, in order to ensure we do not exceed capacity with social distancing in place. Click here to RSVP for an upcoming service.
Masks are required. This decision is based on what we believe to be best practices to-date. Wearing a mask is also a gesture of caring for one another. We have a limited number of masks reserved for first-time visitors, but we ask that you bring your own.
Seating and dismissal are guided, to ensure social distancing, and to allow adequate time for our volunteers to sanitize between services. An opportunity for socially-distanced conversations is available after the service in the lower level, for those who feel comfortable.
Our services are effectively “contactless:” we prop doors, refrain from hand-shaking and hugging, and forego coffee and refreshments for now. Hand-sanitizing stations are available throughout the building, but we also encourage you to bring your own. The Sunday bulletin is available electronically via our app and website. Regular offerings and gifts may be dropped into designated boxes in the auditorium. The Lord’s Supper will be served in individually packaged containers made available upon your arrival.
We are not offering children’s ministry at this time, due to potential risks to children and volunteers, and because of the difficulty in ensuring proper sanitization. We welcome families to bring children with them to the service during this unique season.
Our Community Groups are entering their typical summertime break, but some groups are continuing to meet via zoom or scheduling small gatherings. We may also schedule other occasional events during the summer months, such as student gatherings, First Steps Luncheons, or other routinely offered classes. Check the calendar for events and dates.
We acknowledge that not everyone will be comfortable attending services in-person at this time. Families and individuals must prayerfully decide what is best for them. Additionally, while we are taking serious measures to ensure that our building is a safe environment for our guests, please understand that attending services in-person comes with inherent risks. Parkside Church Westside makes no guarantee that its guests are protected against novel coronavirus or other illnesses, and cannot be held liable if such illnesses are contracted as a result of attending services. If you feel sick or have symptoms such as a fever, cough, or shortness of breath, please do not attend a service in-person. Seek medical attention if your symptoms persist or are worsening.
