Christ our Shepherd, Companion and Host, Part 1
This sermon presents Christ as our Shepherd, drawing on insights from David Gibson’s The Lord of Psalm 23. The psalm unfolds in three portraits—sheep and shepherd, traveler and companion, guest and host—that reveal the Lord’s complete care for his people. In this first message, the focus is on the sheep and shepherd: because the Lord is our Shepherd, we lack nothing truly necessary; his sufficiency is greater than our wants, and his presence brings rest and renewal. The sermon teaches that true freedom and peace come not from forging our own paths but from following Christ, the Good Shepherd who lays down his life for his sheep. The invitation is deeply personal: to know Jesus not merely as “the Shepherd” but as my Shepherd, the one who provides, restores, and leads us in righteousness, offering both present contentment and eternal security.
