Christ our Shepherd, Companion and Host, Part 2

The sermon emphasizes that Psalm 23 shows us a God who is always with His people as Shepherd, Companion, and Host, bringing comfort even in life’s darkest valleys. The psalmist moves from speaking about God to speaking directly to Him—“You are with me”—reminding us that while evil and suffering are real, God’s presence removes fear. Jesus, our Good Shepherd, carries both rod and staff—protecting us from enemies and lovingly guiding us when we wander—so His care provides both security and correction. The message calls us to trust that we are never truly alone, for Christ has walked through death itself on our behalf, and because He conquered it, its shadow cannot destroy us. The heart of the gospel is this unshakable promise: in life and in death, the Lord is with us, and His grace—not our merit—secures His presence forever.
