Isaac & Jacob: The Family of Promise

Jun 28, 2026 | Matt McAlvey

Flawed People, Faithful God

This sermon reminds us that the Christian life is often lived amid unanswered questions, surprising providence, and deeply flawed people. It shows that God’s purposes are never dependent on human merit or perfect faith, but on his sovereign grace and unwavering faithfulness. Through the contrasting lives of Jacob and Esau, the passage warns against valuing temporary desires over God’s eternal promises while encouraging believers to trust God even when his ways are difficult to understand. Ultimately, our hope rests not in imperfect people but in Jesus Christ, the faithful Son who succeeds where every member of Abraham’s family—and every one of us—has failed.
