Hosanna: A Prayer, Not a Cheer

This sermon shows that “Hosanna” is not first a cheer of celebration but a desperate cry for help that arises from need and dependence. It reveals how people often use the right words while misunderstanding the kind of salvation Jesus actually brings, preferring relief from circumstances over transformation of the heart. Jesus answers that cry, but not by meeting our smaller expectations—he comes as a humble King who saves through self-giving love and the cross. The call, then, is to make “Hosanna” our own honest prayer, trusting that Jesus meets us in our need and gives us not just solutions, but himself.
