Matthew: The King and His Kingdom
Oct 19, 2025 | Matt McAlvey
See that You are Not Alarmed
In this sermon we hear how Jesus prepares his disciples—and us—to live faithfully in uncertain times. The world’s instability, Jesus says, is part of God’s redemptive plan: the pain before new creation. Therefore, believers are not to be alarmed but to endure with grace-sustained faith, knowing that “the one who endures to the end will be saved.” Endurance is not self-reliant grit but trust in Christ, who has already endured the cross and secured our victory. In every hardship—even suffering and loss—the gospel advances, and God’s kingdom moves toward its fulfillment. So we live patiently and faithfully in the present, confident that the new world God has promised will one day be born.
