Being a Church

Jan 12, 2025 | Matt McAlvey

Belonging to One Another

This sermon reflects on the practices of the early church and their relevance today. It emphasizes how the first Christians belonged to each other by learning the Word, sharing life, breaking bread, praying together, and giving generously. The sermon critiques modern individualism, arguing that belonging only to oneself leads to isolation and exhaustion. Instead, it calls believers to embrace meaningful relationships within the church, cultivating deeper connections through intentional actions such as reorienting schedules, practicing hospitality, and praying together. By doing so, the church becomes a community marked by familial love and mutual care, reflecting Christ's transformative work.
