Building Up the Church
Posted by Matt McAlvey on
Hi Friends,
The beginning of a new year gives us the opportunity to look ahead at the next twelve months to think bigger thoughts and ideas. I’ve been doing a bit of that lately, both personally and pastorally. I’m amazed, but not totally surprised, at what God has been doing in us and through us at Parkside Westside. We are experiencing just what Jesus said that he would do, “build his church” and it has been exciting to see it happen. One of the ways that I hope we will continue to be built up is by increasingly aiming to do spiritual good in each other’s lives. In other words, helping one another to become more committed followers of Jesus. Which leads me to extend an invitation for you to come along to a one-day discipleship workshop on Wednesday, February 15. There are a few of us attending and I hope that a few more will join us, too.
The Vine Project Workshop
One of the fellows leading the workshop is Tony Payne. He authored the book, How To Walk Into Church, and helped write the material that we first used for our Community Groups, Six Steps to Loving Your Church. This workshop will build on some of the foundational thoughts that are worked out in those books. The other fellow leading the workshop is a friend of mine, Marty Sweeney, who is a pastor at Old North Church and has preached for us at Parkside Westside. I think the workshop will be profitable (and fun!) by further equipping us to help people become committed followers of Jesus Christ.
Here are the key details for the workshop:
Wednesday, February 15, 2017
- 8:30am-4:30pm
- Cost is $30 and you can register here> by February 10th

Let me know if I can answer any other questions for you about the day!
Warmly,
Matt
