Getting Ready for Easter

Getting Reading for Easter Sunday

Hi Friends,

This week is a special one for the Church as, in particular, we remember the sacrificial and voluntary death of our Savior on Good Friday and His resurrection for the dead on Easter Sunday. I hope that you’ll take some time this week and read the last two chapters in Matthew’s Gospel as we see that, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Rom. 5:8)

This Sunday is also a time that many people will visit a local church for this “religious holiday” that we call Easter. Even in a society that is increasingly post-Christian, opportunity abounds for us to make connections with those around us. As we look forward to our Sunday service, I want to keep encouraging you to do what you’ve been doing.

Over and over I am told how people feel welcomed by others when they attend Parkside Westside. These are comments that I don’t take for granted and I’m thankful to God for what He is doing among us. Thanks for being friendly and for initiating conversations with those that you don’t know well or meet for the first time. Thanks for making the most of the first three minutes after the service ends to pursue meaningful conversations.

As we anticipate the presence of more new attenders this Sunday, I thought it would be a good time to dig out a blog post from Thom Rainer that had seven handy phrases to keep in mind as we do our best to connect with others. While these may seem obvious, it’s important to acknowledge that which is straightforward so that we don’t miss it. I hope these will be helpful for us all!

Warmly,
Matt McAlvey
