Doing a new year purge? If you're in the process of clearing out your things or taking steps toward a minimalist lifestyle, Common Threads would gratefully receive your unwanted items.
Common Threads is a ministry of, and the first-ever thrift store and social enterprise for, Building Hope in the City (BHITC), "a faith-based organization that partners with local congregations, people, and communities to see the city restored to God." Common Threads supports the community by providing employment opportunities "to some of those who are being served by the faith-based ministries of Building Hope in the City including refugee and immigrant welcome efforts, poverty alleviation programs, new church plants in urban neighborhoods, and more. For some, Common Threads is their first-ever experience with the world of work. For others, [they] are a needed on-ramp to employment following a challenging season of life."
