Matthew: The King and His Kingdom
Dec 15, 2024 | Matt McAlvey
For to Such Belongs the Kingdom
The sermon emphasizes Jesus' welcoming, highlighting, and blessing of children as a model for understanding the kingdom of God. The pastor explains that children’s vulnerability, dependence, and unassuming trust serve as spiritual examples for adults, illustrating the humility required to enter God’s kingdom. By receiving children and rebuking the disciples' dismissive attitude, Jesus underscores the value of graciousness and equality in Christian fellowship. The sermon also contrasts human efforts to self-define with the rest and assurance found in embracing Jesus’ lordship with childlike faith. The message culminates in the reminder that through Christ’s humility and sacrifice, we are welcomed into God’s kingdom as beloved children, receiving forgiveness, transformation, and belonging.
