Matthew: The King and His Kingdom

Feb 16, 2025 | Matt McAlvey

Seeing But Not Seeing

The sermon explores the contrast between physical sight and spiritual perception. Jesus, fully aware of the suffering awaiting Him in Jerusalem, continues forward with purpose, while His disciples remain blinded by their own ambitions, seeking positions of honor rather than understanding His mission of sacrifice. In contrast, two physically blind men demonstrate true spiritual sight by recognizing Jesus as the "Son of David" and earnestly pleading for His mercy. The sermon emphasizes that true greatness in God's kingdom is measured by humility and service, mirroring Jesus’ own example of sacrificial love and leadership.
